- Performs neurodiagnostic procedures in the lab, at the patient’s bedside, and in the ICU, including: adult and pediatric EEG, Video/EEG records, visual, auditory, and somato sensory evoked response studies in a clinical enviroment, eletrocorticography, and intra-operative brain-mapping procedures, as described in the departmental procedures manuals, as well as relates clerical activity
- Performs EEG testing in the operating room
- Monitors patient test results with special attention to significant abnormalities. Notifies appropriate Neurologist or physician when any urgent life-threatening abnormality is identified
- Maintains and regularly reviews preventative and corrective maintenance for Neurodiagnostic equipment/instrumentation, including contact with repair, vendor, and preventative maintenance personnel. Complete written records are maintained
- Experience as EEG Technician I in basic EEG, Evoked Potentials studies as well as basic Video-Telemetry with emphasis in Pediatrics, Neonates, Intensive Care and Operating room monitoring. Special training in the operation of EEG equipment and knowledge of the technical aspects of data recording, storage and retrieval. Experience in electronics and/or computer science
- Graduate of an Electro-neuro-diagnostic Technology program accredited by Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or equivalent formal training
- Completion of CAAHEP accredited EEG/EMG program, or the equivalent in a combination of training and experience
- Participate in training new staff
- Troubleshoot errors and perform quality assurance checks
- Assists physician with electromyography. Schedules exams according to time available. Places the patient on the examination table and explains procedure
- Keeps equipment in a clean operating condition. Troubleshoots and repairs minor malfunctions in the equipment. Initiates repair of malfunctioning equipment
