Responsibilities For Medical Lab Technician, / MLT Resume
- BS or AS in Medical Technology or equivalent
- Recognize critical, abnormal and unacceptable test results and follow-up according to established protocols. Inform supervisory personnel and/or pathologists of any unusual or problematic incidents
- Performs a variety of routine and complex procedures using established criteria to provide quality clinical information. Verifies analytic accuracy, precision, sensitivity and linearity for test methods. (50%)
- Operates, calibrates, checks and maintains instrumentation. Recognizes problems with quality control and test procedures and takes appropriate action to ensure quality clinical information. (30%)
- Serves as a consultant to medical laboratory technicians, phlebotomists, other health care providers, as needed. Participates in continuing education to ensure growth and development of the laboratory. (5%)
- Performs routine and stat laboratory analyses utilizing standard equipment and adhering to department policy and procedure manuals
- Prepares specimens for processing and testing upon arrival to the laboratory
- Maintains a safe work environment utilizing proper safety precautions
- Maintains laboratory equipment by daily performance of routine maintenance procedures; maintains supplies of reagents in stock and prepared; performs trouble shooting procedures and calls services
