- Empty bedside drainage bags and keeps records of the patient's intake and output during the entire shift, reports information to the nurse
- Maintains tidiness of the patient’s room as needed
- Assist with accurate completion of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility-Patient Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI) form
- Educate patients and significant others, referral sources, staff and physicians of the benefits of the programs, services and admission requirement for comprehensive Inpatient Rehab
- Negotiate admission approval and rehab rates with third-party payors
- Participate in and/or serve as team leader of committees that address Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), Joint Commission and other rehab standards

- Assist the Director of Rehab with monitoring the standard of clinical services delivered to ensure adherence to evidence-based care delivery standards and regulatory compliance
- Assist therapy staff in identifying and removing barriers to treatment and providing clinical education to meet the needs of the patient
- Operationally manages personnel and consultants providing service within facility or patient homes
- Ensures that the highest standard of rehabilitation services is delivered and maintained
- Assumes responsibility for insuring departmental compliance with all regulatory and practice act requirements with input from Regional Clinical Director and/or lead clinician
- Maintain accurate daily logs of patients referred and complete monthly status report within designated time frame
- Attend meetings and designated training sessions in order to maintain current knowledge of all payer and regulatory requirements, UPMC Rehabilitation Institute/skilled nursing facility policies and procedures, community resources
